WHY THE LOCAL MEDIA ‘DUMPED' MR. FAMILY
Rewind back to April 1, 2006. The Gentlemen’s Club 10 opened and Mr. Family started his
stop g club 10 website. He was a media darling for a few weeks getting frequent articles in the newspapers, radio TV, he was on the Sue Henry Show on Wilk News radio. The press covered his ‘prayer meeting’ and then suddenly he was gone from the local media. It’s been 5 months now since the media covered any of his antics. But why did that happen? Why did Mr. Family get dumped?
The Citizen’s voice gave an official explanation. " We DO NOT quote anonymous sources."
Since Mr Family is an anonymous source, they refused to have anything more to do with him.
But there is more to the story than that, according to the people connected to the news media.
" Mr family could be a competitor, an angry ex employee, a business owner with a grudge against
the landlord, anything is possible, we just do not know", said a reporter who works for the Times Leader. " He said a lot of things we could not verify, were rumors, and statements we suspected were false. Almost no one at the prayer meeting would give their name. I have covered Klu Klux Klan meetings and the most people there gave their names. We got the feeling things were not right with him and to avoid the possibility of libel, we stopped covering him.. He also got demanding on what we should and should not print, which was the final straw for us."
Nancy & Kevin of the Morning show on WILK were very critical of Mr family before Nancy, as station manager decided to drop Mr Family. "Here’s a guy that’s not man enough to say who he is and stand up for what he believes, but he wants to publish pics of people who go to the club to try to embarrass them and he expects other people do his dirty work by going out and taking pics for him," said Kevin. Nancy also commented " We will publish pics you take in the gclub and put them up on our website, that should send Mr. Family into orbit." She also said, "this story getting old, we are going to drop it." Mr Family had his say on the Sue Henry Show once, but he was never invited back. Most phone calls, emails, etc were negative to his cause.
TV stations echoed similar sentiments. Jeff Walker, of WKRZ, made fun of Mr Family before dropping him, he is now old news as far as the press goes.
Now that Mr. Family has been eliminated from the press, the only thing he has is his blog,
and the blurry pics he cons people into taking for him. The lack of press coverage and his refusal
to reveal his identity has really hurt his cause and his credibility. Of Course Mr Family doesn’t believe that. He thinks business is down and the club is going to close. Too bad he is deluding himself, and his followers.
Mark Twain once said " Faith is believing something you know isn’t true." One would think he knew Mr. Family.
